Riad Idra

This Riad is located in one of the most characteristic quarters of Marrakech. It is found between the Pacha Palace, in which the name Dar el Pacha is derived from, and the Medresa Ben Youssef in the quarters of Mouassine which was once called  street of Bab Doukkala . Riad Idra is at a 10 minute walk from the famous Jamaa El Fna Place. It is an antique house of Marrakech that after the second half of the last century once everyone abandoned the Medina, the house began to slowly fall apart. It was this factor in which ten years ago, the present owner feel in love with the old establishment. The renovation work started there after and now Riad Idra has been restored to its original, antique splendour in homage to Marrakech and to its people.

The Patio
A 90 sqm patio with 2 water fountains, trees, tables and couches. It is a lovely place that opens up onto three principle rooms, the living room, dining room and the wellness centre. Close to the patio is the guest lounge, kitchen and elevators. Riad Idra is one of the few riads in the medina to have an elevator.

The First Floor
It is on this level which you will find two guest rooms called Dream room and Berber room. There is also a suite named Suite of Thoughts and next to that is the owners apartment.

The Terrace
At Riad Idra there are 4 splendid terraces. The first offers a wonderful view of Marrakech and its medina, Koutoubia Mosque, Medresa Ben Youssef, Bad Doukkala and Pacha Palace Gardens. The second terrace is the Solarium which has private lounge chairs, coffee tables and sun umbrellas. The third terrace is called the Idra Snack with its European and Berber décor, it is truly an enchanting location. The last is the Cactus Garden terrace which is primarily for rest and relaxation. It provides an electronic telescope for those who wish to observe the remarkable Idra constellation.

Spa and Wellness Centre
This centre offers hammam, Jacuzzi and massages. It was built by an expert of traditional maroccan baths, Mr Abdelatif Lamselli, and is truly an authentic hammam. Here you will find handmade wooden benches, characteristic dark soaps and essential bath oil. All this to help you enjoy the rituals of a true Moroccan bath. Our wellness centre in collaboration with the well known biological company Nectarome, provide natural, scientifically tested treatments to restore the balance and tonification of both your skin and soul. After your hammam session, you can further relax by enjoying yourself in the Jacuzzi with its view of the patio. Some of the treatments offered (with early reservation) are the following:

The Entrance
Through the elegant doors that open from the Derb Tizougarine Street, you will find the peaceful Riad Idra. A vertical window by the door lets you see inside the patio, while the floors, made from hand levigated Atlas rocks, tell a story of this beautiful land. The are wonderful couches in the lobby where one could enjoy a traditional cup of tea while filling out the paperwork for registration.

The Lounge Area
Built in traditional Moroccan fashion, this room has an authentic cedar wood door with decorative steel bars on its windows. There are two particular spots in this room, one of which is the fire corner and the other is the relaxation corner. In this room one could read by the fire on those chilly evenings, watch television, listen to music or enjoy a nice drink by the bar while conversating with family and friends.

The Dining Area
Large, spacious and futuristic yet deeply traditional, this area provides a fireplace with couches for enjoying your drinks and five tables for two people (could be regrouped upon request). Simple and essential, this dining room has beautiful hand painted wall murals with designs of Berber tents. Refined meals, beautifully decorated furniture and European textiles make this a truly elegant place to dine. The romantic lighting adds to this unforgettable experience.

The Kitchen
Hand built in massive wood with all of the most modern and sophisticated equipment. Each day there are two menus offered to our guests, one is Moroccan cuisine and the other International cuisine. Our chefs are always willing to disclose their secret recipes for those who are willing to recreate the dishes at home.

Riad Idra freely offers its guests taxi service to and from the airport, welcome tea and continental breakfast.
